During Richard Arkwright's extensions, two/three earth privies were built at the rear of the buildings in the yard, these served all six dwellings. More families were accommodated in the adjacent tithe barn.

From this photograph you can see the size of the roof tiles. The oak beams are holding up a great deal of weight!
