Explore our facinating social history collection which offers a wealth of learning opportunities, and reflects the impact of pivotal events of the last 500 years on Bakewell and the surrounding area.
Step into the past and experience how we used to live by discovering massive open fireplaces, beamed ceilings, a Tudor toilet, an intriguing collection of local artefacts, tools, toys and period costumes - and much more!
Our exhibits link with cross-curricular Key Stage 1&2 topics and learning objectives and can accomodate local history projects, and other themes such as World War I and II, the Victorians and the Tudors. Learn about Bakewell's industrial past in our new industrial gallery, which ties the Museum with Lumford Mill, Richard Arkwright and the industrial revolution.
